Topic:  Summit Academy.  Michael Harty from the Xenia campus will be with us to discuss the Therapeutic Learning Model they use, the students that benefit from this learning environment, and the specialized programming they offer.  This will be a casual Q&A session with plenty of time for open discussion on all schooling options in the area and about how the Ohio Autism Scholarship works.

Topic:  The Hidden Curriculum: Teaching What is Meaningful.   A screening of the video by Brenda Smith Myles and a discussion to follow.  "Using numerous everday examples, Brenda Smith Myles emphasizes the importance of teaching hidden curriculum items directly to individuals with autism spectrum disorders and social-cognitive challenges, even if it means skipping other more traditional content for the moment.".  The video is humorous and enlightening.  An evening you will enjoy and will take away new insight on how to teach the unwritten rules.

Denise MacDonald is the President and Founder of eReadingPro, and was Co-Founder of the original Out of the Box Reading program. Kroeger-Geoppinger, PsyD, Assistant Professor of Clinical Pediatrics at the Kelly O'Leary Center at the Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center.  About the speaker.    Kim will present a clear plan for toilet training virtually ANY child, regardless of developmental level, I.Q., vocal or non-vocal.  Your questions will be answered and you'll leave the training knowing exactly what to do to help your child achieve toileting skills and maintain them.

Topic: Special Needs Financial Planning.  Presented by:  Paul A. Nidich, Esq., J.D., LL. M.  About the speaker.  Paul is not only a highly-qualified attorney, he also has an adult child with autism, so he fully understands the emotional concerns as well as the financial ones for our children.  Paul is extremely knowledgeable about Special Needs Trusts aka. Supplemental Services Trusts, and knows the ins and outs of the laws to give us peace of mind when planning for our children's futures.  It's something that none of us wants to think about but once everything is in place, you are free to focus on the here and now, and maybe sleep a little easier at night.

M.  About the speaker.  Paul has an adult child with autism, combine that with his Master of Laws in Taxation degree and you have yourself the perfect person to teach us about taxation laws as they apply to caring for our special needs children.  I have found Paul to be a compassionate man who understands the challenges we face, and he works very hard to help us keep as much of the money we earn as possible, so we can use that money to care for our children.
